What is Reteach?
Reteach is a program that ensures all students have multiple opportunities to find academic success. Because our overarching guiding principle, caring for kids, is central to everything we do, Reteach embodies this vision, and students benefit.
How it Works?
Each week students at all schools take formative assessments, which are five-question quizzes that ensure students understand the material from the week's instruction. Students need to pass with 80% mastery of the material. Teachers then assign students who need additional help to Reteach. Students who pass can also attend Reteach to improve their score to 100%. After two days of Reteach the following week, students take another assessment similar to the first one and receive the higher of the two scores.
What If My Student Needs More?
When a student still does not show mastery of the material after a week of Reteach, the teacher will assign them additional sessions to continuously work with them until they do.
What is the Saturday Catch-Up Room?
Students are either assigned to the Saturday Catch-Up Room if they are struggling academically, or they can choose to attend to improve their grades. The program provides multiple benefits for our students. Offered several times per trimester, students can attend on select Saturdays to receive tutoring, make up work, and continue to work toward mastery of formatives.
How Can My Child Get Enrichment?
Enrichment occurs differently at each school but all teachers differentiate their classes to offer acceleration opportunities. At McDowell Mountain Elementary we offer "What I Need" or W.I.N. time. Scheduled daily, students are grouped by need and work with the grade-level team of teachers. Students who are at grade level academically use W.I.N. time to accelerate and dive deeper into subject areas. At Fountain Hills Middle School, acceleration is offered through the i21 program. This cross-curricular approach enriches the grade-level standards while preparing students for Honors & AP courses at Fountain Hills High School. In high school, we offer acceleration and enrichment in the 13 Honors and 16 AP courses offered, the AP Capstone program, and our Fountain Hills University (FHU) program in partnership with Arizona State University. Students at FHHS can graduate with 30 credits from ASU and their first year of college completed.
